That first photo, of the calm blue water, and the Goleta Pier, wow! Your best yet!

Thanks for the encouragement, Puente. :) For those interested in SBA, I found some old photos on the new San Diego Air & Space Museum's online archive. The first is from 1975 as I recall, and the older ones of the Beech and the Loughead S-1 look like the basis for an Edhat article if someone knows the stories.

John, the first photo is great, but I was captivated by photos 2 and 3 even more. All excellent work, as usual. Thanks for sharing.

Your airport, the sea, and islands are why it is always my airport of choice. Waiting for Frontier to open more flights when the new facility opens. I will miss the old terminal, though. You are spoilt rotten, John--but at least you know it! Thanks for sharing as always.

Yes, it would be a good "old SB" article to tell about Loughead and the early aircraft industry in Santa Barbara. I wonder how many people know that Loughead was started in Santa Barbara and modernized/Anglicized its name to Lockheed after moving to the Hollywood? Jack Northrop who later founded Northrop Aviation and became famous for the flying wing worked for Loughead in the early days in Santa Barbara and became their chief engineer. He was a graduate of SBHS in the same class as Martha Graham (1913) and in the early 1960s was living in retirement in Santa Barbara. His pressure and $$$ and lots of engineering he paid for resulted in the freeway through SB NOT being ELEVATED which is what the State of CA insisted on doing before Jack brought his talents in engineering and bankroll to bear on proving that a depressed freeway was, unlike what the State of CA said, feasible.

I love the first photo, and find it beautiful and relaxing. But the 2nd photo is more unusual and enchanting, the foggy clouds nipping the tops of the mountains & I like how much sky you have included in the composition.
