You saw a world class polo game. If you want to see better polo you will have to go to Florida or Argentina. Most people who have lived in SB all their lives have never been to a game. The incredible horses, speed and skill of the players and of course the people watching, combined with the outdoor setting and alcohol in the PM makes for a great afternoon. The time to come is during the high goal season- the medium and low goal seasons are more for players than spectators and the play is slower. Don't be intimidated by what to wear, you also see a lot of Levis. Great photos-the player in the light blue helmut is Adolofo Cambiaso, considered the worlds greatest player. Sundays Final, best polo in the western U.S., will be streamed live starting at 1:30 at sbpolo website.

A long time ago (I mean Lance Reventlow long time ago) my Dad wore a suit and I wore a white dress, gloves, hat. Anyone who hasn't been to a polo game should put it on the bucket list.

The last time I went to a polo game was in the early 1960s with my dad. Dan Blocker, of Bonanza fame, was in Carpinteria for the match. I must have been about 10 years old and I remember that I was excited to get his autograph. He was in his early forties and died unexpectedly not too long after that.

I'm going to have to go see polo again sometime.

Thanks for a lovely adventure. So nice to know a few people are not afraid to be classy in these days of super casualness. And the horses are really stars in thier own right.
