surfrider is also dedicated banning fishing
they have supported closing naples, sands, ellwood, Devereux, IV depressions and campus to fishing and other recreational activities.

I don't know if that's true, but when I listen to my buddy who lived here in the 1950's, I would say all of those locations are close to dead. So, 96149, what's your point?

What continues to astonish me is that no one seems to have a plan to save the Gaviota Coast. Just like Ellwood, Carpinteria Bluffs, More Mesa, etc. it is up to us to raise the money to purchase the development rights (from willing sellers) of the remaining private properties. Surfriders "plan" so far just seems to involve more expensive litigation on Naples but that doesn't accomplish the goal over the long run.

@ dan
these locations are all full of life for example
vimeo video /6775407
and
10134855
I fail to see how either of these is "dead"
I encourage you to go out at Dev or campus on a day with good vis and see what exactly surfrider wants to take away forever.
neither of these spots get any relevant commercial fishing pressure, all Surfrider is really doing is taking away the only accessible dive spots for goleta teens

@96309 -- maybe I am missing something, but why can't the Goleta (and other) teens continue to dive there? I suppose you mean they (and others) can't dive and kill fish there? But why can't it be like a national or state park, at least for the present, see, photograph, but not take? ...What am I missing?
