Would the Courthouse look so spectacular if it were surrounded by multiple tall buildings on all sides, as the city General Plan wants to put into downtown? Save this city and its rare and special buildings while you can. Tell the city no more tall buildings downtown.

Don't forget the free summer movie series taking place Friday nights all summer long. There were over 1000 people there last night to see "Frankenstein". Every patch of grass with a view of the screen was taken. Next week is "The Wolfman", with a full moon!

And the 6th reason to visit, is to take the self guided tour with the$1. brochure(purchased at the info kiosk NW area of courthouse) with neatly laid out map of most trees and palms around the courthouse, corresponding numbers on map and trees makes it a fun and easy hunt for kids and adults( I guess thats everybody) it has common names and scientific names too, some very rare palms and one of the largest local variety's of palms in the area! Now go and find the Butia capitata? No your not sitting on it!

The Courthouse grounds are free to use for weddings, but I think you have to sign up. One I went to there was in the tower, another on the lawn with chairs set out for a good size crowd. No need for decorations, beautiful setting! JP

The answer to 90339's question is YES, the courthouse would look exactly the same as it does now, no matter how many (egad!!!) 60 ft buildings were built around it.

The voters have spoken and have told all you "anti-canyonization" zealots to go away. Enough already. Take a reality pill.

GREAT photos. Love the Aztec gardener, the cartwheel, and all the angles.
