I would have been OK with more than six photos! I went to Kobachi for lunch once and was unimpressed, but have been told by numerous folks since then that dinner really is the only time to go. Your review drives that point home! I'm going to have to head that way soon.

I was thinking that a write up of personal top picks, or best bang for buck list would be good. I have nearly all the past photos for it. Give a shout out if you're interested.

Lemonjelly, I would love that kind of a writeup! Then again I'm living vicariously through your reviews much of the time, so the more words and pictures, the better :)

I have been to Kobashi innumerable times, including my husbands's birthday, mostly for lunches and have always had excellent service and delicous food, I especially like the fried oysters. My husband and his business partner eat there once a week for lunch and are crazy about it and we consistently run into two different groups of Japanese friends there at lunch time I hope the readers give them another try.

Great review! I've been here for over 20 years, and eat some sort of Asian food at least a couple of times a week all over the country (I travel a lot). I'd pretty much given up on the Japanese restaurants in Santa Barbara; there's not much new any where. But this sounds interesting and worth a try. Thanks for the great description and pictures!
