Like I say, lots of pot shops in this area and lots of weird things keep happening in the new sleaze corridor of SB - DeLaVina Street. Start keeping score how seriously life in Santa Barbara is being degraded, now in its formerly backwater streets as downtown crime gets pushed up deeper and deeper into the northern town residential neighborhoods. Sites of pot shops and grow houses and advertised home bake sales for "organic treats". Thank you Grant House for so compassionately ruining our city.

No, no you miss the point. Start adding up how many weird things are happening in all the blocks now around Upper DeLa Vina just in the past few days - pot shops, drug front pizza shops, RV's dumping their brown waste, major traffic accidents, kidnapping and/or missing persons. No more a sleepy little backwater part of our town.

Grant House has been a heel on this issue. If he had a soul, he would see all the damage caused in the wider picture by the city pot shops and be in genuine despair. He has a cold stone where his heart should be.

With that logic, er, leaps of inference, I could prove that the end of the world is nigh based on all the natural disasters which have occurred in the last 5 years. I'm not sure why MM sticks in the craw of conservatives; even the SB sheriffs said there's no evidence of increased incidence of crime due to MM shops, contrary to DEA propaganda. Lay off the concern-trolling.

The community dialogue is fundamentally over what is a right and what is a privilege. Do RV's have the right to dump their waste anywhere they want in the name of freedom. Do pot sellers have the right to sell anything anywhere they want. Do grafitti vandels have the right to create their art anywhere they want. Do drivers have the right to drive on any side of the street they want, impaired by drugs or alcohol or not. These are fundamental fault line questions and if we tear ourselves apart over the details, name-calling, blame and never get the fundamental nature and orientation of the underlying argument, we lose precious time and energy. We come together in an orderly society for public benefit. What is the nature of that mutual contract with each other. Talk among yourselves.

This isn't the Daily Sound - stop with the trolling- there are plenty of articles about the subject where people actually want to hear your opinion - it is inappropriate and rude here. Traffic accidents can be serious. Taking something like this as an opportunity to stand on a soapbox makes me think one thing - "consider the source". You're hurting your own point...

84708: That was one of the best comments I've heard in a while. As for the accident, Mission was closed off between DLV & Bath, possibly further down to Castillo, couldn't see. Hopefully no one was hurt.

Thanks 84712, I visit The Daily Grind at Mission & De la Vina almost daily. There are lots of accidents there. And yes, I confuse The Daily Sound and The Daily Grind.

re:84712 I agree is best to have info on the subject matter. I have been disappointed with the comments on that other daily, almost all negatives. I like the quaintness of that area, but always found parking a little difficult.

84698 - the "drug front pizza shop" is/was on upper STATE ST not De la Vina. Miles away. And I believe the RV too...? Agreed, 84708 for the win.

84793P - 84698 did say "around" upper de la Vina. And Pizza Guru is exactly 1/3 of a mile from the top of de la Vina, not "miles" as you suggest.

I bet the LDS (Mormon) church is also about 1/3 mile away.

Dan - We share your concern. We ask subscribers to keep on topic, and not steer every conversation toward a particular subject. For instance, not every news item has something to do with medical marijuana, floatopia, or pensions. If subscribers can't self-regulate with this guideline, we will be forced to .... make another rule. And, you know how much we all like that! BTW, this comment thread is now closed.
