I should not read your column because I'm already half as big as Texas. Then the pictures, Yummy yum yum. That place across from Scolari's I've been to twice now. Now these sweet potato fries, I'm gonna have to get me some...

They look delicious. I went online for recipes, and they are very simple to make also. Can't wait to tell my husband. He loves to try new fresh food ideas. He will come up with some homemade dip that will be perfect, and maybe adding nasturtiums for color and taste. Mmm

Can you fry them with butter on a George Foreman grill, even though I can't adjust the tempture? I'll try it later. Oh look I asked a question and answered myself. I must be crazy.

Tupelo Junction on State Street has them, too. I like them, but I don't know how they compare to the others. Research time!!!!

I make my own often, but without frying. I chip them, then parboil for about a minute or even less, drain, then roast them in a metal pan at 375 degrees for 25 minutes, turning once. A simple spicy dipping sauce is mayo mixed with siracha or tapatio.

We used to love the sweet potato fries at Le Bon Cafe (and still miss that place). The Doghouse on Milpas had great ones, too (and still miss that place, too).

Marmalade and E Bar, but I can't compare them because I ate 'em during Happy Hour and can't remember anything after the first drink.

I roast them with minced garlic in some olive oil at about 425 in the oven or on a hot BBQ till they brown slightly, otherwise they get dried out and tasteless. Love them dusted with Cajon-style spicing. The only dip I've tried is a wasabi mayo. Pretty tasty but gilding the lily as far as I'm concerned.

Billie's, the new diner at 413 State (/Gutierrez), has an extremely tasty iteration available from ~11am 'til *3AM* every (day and) night of the week.

UPDATE !! Just found another place for dee-licious sweet potato fried -- the Elephant Bar in Goleta of all places. using a batter reminiscent of tempura, I was swept away on a sweet treat of these fabulous fries... now I don't have to drive to Summerland!
