Metropolous is such an incredible shop: sooo many yummy cheeses, deli items, great sandwiches, fine and affordable wine selection, and an abundance of gourmet items for enhancing your own culinary adventures at home...great place to stock up for picnics, and to order specialty foods for the holidays...and there's always something new to try, some intriguingly delicious imported goodies that have just arrived...mmm, it's making me hungry just thinking about it!

$9 for a gyro?...I miss the Greek Italian Market more than ever...At least we can fondle the latest electronic shackle at the 25th Verizon store in town though...

MSG gets an unfair bad rap. The processed gyro meat though I agree, bleh. Also burritos are in fact authentically Mexican, from Ciudad Juárez. However they are smaller than their American counterparts and typically only include one or two items. Metropolous is a great little shop, lots of items that are hard to find in SB, such as Tipo 00 flour. Thanks for the reivew LJ!

You can only find burritos in northern mexico. It is more of an American food. I just came back from Mexico City and no one served a single burrito at any of the places I ate at. As far at the Metro Firehouse I am ordering it today for lunch thank you!

77306 - Did I ever say Ciudad Juarez wasn't in northern Mexico? Maybe my comment was saying it isn't just specific to Juarez, but all of northern mexico. .... oh people are so funny.

re: Tipo OO flour - the Italian Grocery / Tino's usually carries 3 different brands. A good option if the funk zone is too out of the way. Thanks for the info on burrito authenticity.

Thanks for the tip LJ! I'll have to check it out. Lazy Acres carries it as well (1 brand). mmmm pizza. Made some with the Tipo 00 over the weekend topped with squash blossoms from the garden and Burrata cheese. It was a hit. Thanks again.

Thanks for the great tip, Lemonjelly. The Firehouse sandwich sounds like it's right up my alley. Thanks for finding the unique and off-the-beaten-path restaurants and sharing the information with us.
