What market stand did the rhubarb come from? I had my eye out for the stuff at the Saturday market but couldn't find any.

Head for Marcie @ Jimenez Family Farms - but you have to go early, we rhubarb fans are ruthless, the season is short and Marcie only has so much! And for those who miss out, buy one of her Rhubarb Pies - always fab.

We had some great pie at a tiny cafe just north of St Mary's. Also had good (huckleberry!!) pie in the Big Fork area on the east side of Flathead Lake, near the famous Flathead Cherry orchards.

thanks for the recipe--the rhubarb is getting ready to harvest.

p.s.: next time you travel, log onto the chowhound.com 's board that's pertinent to the area you're visiting or traversing. Use the search box to get answers to your questions, like "early morning bakery hours in Big Fork" or best pizza in Moosedrool" etc. Get answers, and no need to resort to gag-n-baggits. I use it for SB all the time.

We ate out very little on our trip to save money, but made a few exceptions, and the St. Mary's pie place was definitely a worthy one!

LJ, I didn't see it on Saturday either.. last Tuesday one of the Carpinteria farms had it.

Tri-Counties market usually has it for sale --- I didn't notice the other day when I was there, but they have had it for weeks.
