I LOVE old cars...they just don't make them with class and beauty like they used to. My first car was a 1960 Karman Ghia, red, white hard top, white wall tires, and tons of beautiful chrome. I have that same smile, David, when I see one of those on the road (although I have to admit that the Ferrari is 10 times more stunning, and the roar of the engine sings of power that my poor Ghia's roar never had!).

Comment 55903...You're right, the old cars just seem more interesting. Your 1960 Karman Ghia must have been a real kick in the pants to drive.

I bought a used red 1974 BMW 2002tii in 1976 that I cherished for 20 years. Then kids came along and I bought a minivan.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the Karman Ghia...we're thinking alike.

Still driving my 65 Volvo 122 which I always considered a Ghia on steroids. The engine only has about 25K on it - therefore fast and responsive. Not a superflash supercar ... but it fires right up and takes to the mountains like a lion. My 15 year old will get it on her next birthday - she helped me pick out he paint when she was 4.

In 1960, I had an opportunity to buy, in a crate, a 1956 Mercedes-Benz 300SL gull wing coupe for $2,500. Naturally, I failed to do it because I lacked the ready cash and was way short on mechanical acumen to put it together. Another one of those lost opportunities.
