Koln Cathedral was spared in spite of over 70 strikes by Allied bombs: a real survivor. It is one of the most beautiful churches in Europe.

I visited Koln in 1970. They were still repairing the damage from The Big Fight.
The inside was open for visitors though.

We were passing through Cologne, using our Eurail passes, and thought we'd spend the night. We ended up staying three interesting and delightful days, and could have lingered longer.
