Because of the shooting on the EastSide last night. Retaliation is probable...even if it was a white kid killed.... the block is hot...

Wake up SB! Don't you care??? Innocent people are getting killed here in this small city of 89,000 and there's hardly any media coverage the way it should be. Walk the streets at night, good luck. Gangs run things it seems. 21-year-old man dies last night; 37 year old died in 2010 just walking home. What gives SB? Call the press, the police, go to the trials.

Indeed -- they're probably being on the lookout for retaliation from the East Side gang murder that happened last night. Only my theory.

This morning on the way to work i noticed fresh Eastside graffiti sprayed on the Westside market on Micheltorena. I said o myself "oh boy, here we go....."... And that was before Id heard that a young man was murdered last night on Olive.

The young man was from Ventura (not the Eastside or Westside), this was most likely drug not gang related, and I don't believe an innocent victim...

Well, I just saw a posting on FB from John Palminteri, saying that the Police are still looking for the idiots that killed that guy last night. I'm sure that's why the Police were swarming around the Westside today!

930P. don't worry, 913 will get booted. The problem with incendiary statements like his is not only are they dubious, they are not constructive. It's sad really, Someone like that person could take his strong feelings and direct them towards things like electing a different President, immigration reform, or teen pregnancy prevention. In other words, he can have his beliefs, but make the world a better place. Instead his rant is like a tiny bottle of kerosene on a patch of weeds. His values will smoke and flare, but never spread.

I don't think the killers are idoits they committed a homicide in a pretty active area within 3 blocks of the police department, and they got away over a short peroid of time on foot. They might get caught later just because they are killers it don't make em idoits.

@960, don't let the door hit you on the way out. We need constructive people that want to make this town a better place. Cities have problems like this all over the US. Why should SB be any different?

I see that 913 got booted; now what about 960's? American History you say? Let's remember who used to call California home - even before the Spanish and Mexican governments moved in....

Domestic terrorism is 'ho-hum? I'm glad and proud of our police officers and all others who put their lives on the line. When 'domestic terrorism' hits your home, ho-humming won't be the song you sing, you will duck while the brave face the battle. AND FOR NANNY: 960 is ugly.

yes this WAS mexico at one time long ago, no longer, the root of the problem does not lay in skin color or place of birth we need better education, being held accountable and in reality it all revolves around greed. Yes I agree if you come to this/my country you should learn about its history(its REAL history) learn the language, but no one is asking you to let go of your heritage, learn english, get a job, contribute in a possitive way dont be a burden or a disgrace...and for the record, I am Mexican..!st generation born here in Santa Barbara and both my parents where born in Mexico, real Mexico and are now full fledged US citizens, and proud. Dont blame a race, blame society for allowing it to happen.

Um, am I mistaken or is the cities name Spanish? The majority of its street names and landmarks Spanish? Founded by the Spanish, won by the Mexicans, and subsequently by the Americans. And people want to complain about the city having Spanish speakers and "too many Mexicans", lol, how ridiculous. Did you think they would all just disappear when they signed the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo? Maybe we should change the cities name to something more "English" sounding. Let's change all the streets too, from De La Guerra Plaza and Cabrillo Blvd. to Smith Plaza and Jones Blvd. After all, this isn't Mexico is it?

It is also possible they are patrolling in an attempt to find the arson that has been setting the numerous recent fires on the west side. I spoke to someone in the fire department that said they are concerned that the arsonist is escalating his setting of fires in that area.

048 Hmmm. A good idea but take it further. Sell the street naming option. Make some money for the city. De La McCaw? Oprah Blvd? Tyco Place? Roger Dodger Lane? (Last one needs donations from EdHatters.)

I think the Milpas roundabout could be named for Roger. I don't detect ulterior motives to divide people in any of his posts. At least you know it's Roger because his name/handle is right there. That's why I think of the roundabout. You either go round and round if you're in a head-butting mode or, you get in, get over then exit. I sense more community where Roger is than a lot of other posts. Roger Dodger Park Park Roundabout Garden.
