I don't know why she sued him for damages. Suing Roberts for breech of contract and asking for damages was a waste of time and money. She owns a news paper. All she had to do was smear him all over the front page every week.

Poor Jerry really got screwed by Wendy McCaw and the News Press. I'm so sorry to hear that he has been under serious medical care for so long and wish him nothing but the very best.

Echoing the two comments above and I am very sorry to read about the severity of the cancer. I thought he had it knocked down and out. What is the Mission and State journalism initiative?

I can't believe he ended up getting any money from Wendy. I thought she would fight him all the way to the Supreme Court and then end up moving all of her money to the Cayman's so he still wouldn't get anything.

Not totally engaged by the thrill of a investigative unit where its board seems to be extremely light on journalism experience and more local activists. Every now and then Noozhawk and the Independent actually seem to do good in depth articles why didn't they just grease existing wheels. I've seen a couple of good units operating around the country and like ProPublica they had a board based in journalism not community activism or public access tv.
