How unfortunate. I can only try to imagine your loss. Could you post what happened? Not insensitive, just curious and the only one brave enough to ask.

As an inveterate traveler and with many relatives and friends who fly a lot, the stress of making a trip, the rush of checking in for a flight, being on board a flight in fairly squashed in a fairly sedentary position, with little exercise, then landing and heading towards baggage claim and onwards - it's hard on the heart. More than a few relatives and friends have been hit by heart attacks or Deep Vein Thrombosis within hours or days of a flight.

It's really, really common for deaths to occur amongst siblings and partners in such close succession. It's heartbreak combined with genetics and risk factors, sometimes. Perhaps they were incredibly close and this really hit him hard enough to impact his health. Either way, incredibly sad. RIP.

Robert already had some health issues and was advised not to fly. It was either heart failure, or something related to flying (blood clots etc).

Robert was a happy, funny, endlessly curious bright light, who shared generously with all he met. He positively impacted many people, and will be sorely missed in numerous circles around town -- bird folks, Mac/Apple fans, music lovers, long-time organic food proponents. He literally brought a smile or laugh to dozens every day.

My condolences to all those who loved Robert. He really was a wonderful guy who loved and got along with everyone lucky enough to know him. I'm sure he knew how much people loved him in return as well. He'll be missed by all but now he can keep his sister company.
