My former boss likes to wrap up dog doo in a box with xmas wrapping, then leave it in the street, and watch who picks it up. He says some just put it in the car, others open it right there. Good ole robert.

Or even better if they got two huge boxes of adult diapers and catheters, and colostemy bags. Wonder if they would return them? Also to place a package where they are known to be active, and rig it with some of that dye that they use in bank robberies. I actually do receive many packages a month and it is horrible that this is going on, and we need to find a way to stop it. Thinking about it, how could we stop people from following any delivery trucks and steal from the people whose packages were delivered?

Times are tough. People get resentful and desperate. Not condoning- just sayin'.... There's a thread about online shopping- interesting that products are delivered and just left outside.

It's obvious to me that we can no longer count on packages being secure, just as we cannot count on using an unlocked mail box. We have to protect ourselves. If you're not home, or don't have a trustworthy neighbor at home, you're scr ... ummm, not in good shape. Other delivery arrangements will have to be made, or else consider it theft loss like retailers do. If you do know your neighbors, see if an elder or work-from-home neighbor can assist you. If your boss accepts it, get packages delivered at work.

ABC news did a story where people were following delivery trucks and stealing packages. So it is a nationwide problem. I assumed that until you took possession of the package the delivery company had responsibility for replacing the stolen item. ABC recommended having your packages sent to an address where someone one was guarenteed to be there- maybe at your work? You can also tell them to hold your packages at the UPS office so you can pick them up.

070: Not sure if you can fault someone for picking up a package that's in the street... maybe they could turn it in to the police department but really, if something is in the street, most people consider it abandoned.

mail a tracking device in all packages ...If they are stolen we can find it.
