And of coarse when the final cost is determined, the local taxpayers are going to be reimbursed through a student fee that UCSB is going to impose on all currently enrolled students.

@897 Yep, right after local businesses remit all profits generated by the extra customers this week.

I think they counted their chickens too early. Halloween is tomorrow and it sounds like round two starts Thursday!

@897 - Because current UCSB students are predominantly the ones driving drunk and falling off roofs? Maybe, but I'd put my money on visitors.

043 - Yes, law enforcement asks where people are from when they are detained for being drunk. I forget the numbers...but many don't live in I.V.

Maybe the Economic Forecast people could do an economic analysis of the costs of the medical and law enforcement versus the benefit to the community of increased alcohol and snack sales during this time. The 55 citations issued at the DUI checkpoint are for unlicensed/unregistered/uninsured drivers. They should stop calling them DUI checkpoints and instead call them revenue enhancing checkpoints.

I'd like to know how many of these statistics actually ARE UCSB students.

If you were able to examine the stats you would find that most of the people who got cited etc. don't go to UCSB or CC. They are either friends of students or people who heard about it on Facebook. They are unaware until they arrive that there is maximum enforcement and that they cannot park in IV. And then the fun starts...see you next year kids....thanks for the positive cash flow.

Thank you Law. Thank you Alcohol. Thank you All, one and all for which we created this as one as many where blackouts and violence breed. Death, burnt banks, killings weekly, stabbings, rapes. These people are our future?
