This didn't look like a bumblebee to me. They have bright yellow stripes.

I have seen these giants in my Salvia and wonder what they are. hummingbirds are also attracted to this plant.

Carpenter bees are giant termites boring holes into my wooden shed!! I'm not sure I'll celebrate them :o(

Yes please, would a bee-wise someone in the know please show & tell; post a link about Bumbles vs. Carpenters? You'd be the bees knees if you did so!

Bees are the greatest. Today (Saturday) I had some honey bees (two or three) taking turns, hanging off my faucet and trying to suck up some moisture. I think it is vastly interesting that these bees all have designated "jobs."

I love my huge, B-52 bomber-sized black carpenter bees, too. They sure like the sages.

Is the bee shown here a carpenter bee or a bumble bee ? I can't tell.
