Considering the number of kids involved in Halloween, these numbers prove that IV is probably the safest place for a young person to be this weekend.

This weekend I'm sure but how about all the other weekends in the year? Times are different in IV I have a friend that lives there that constantly hears sirens through most week end nights..I wonder is the murder of Gregory Ghan ever going to be solved?

I worked out there in IV last night and it seemed relatively tame. I would like to see the stats on how many vehicles were towed, even the private property tows, and how many parking citations. Saturday night should be a lot more active.

And don't forget the unsolved murder of Gloria who was burned alive in a Santa Barbara junkyard.

85 *bookings* (time and labor intensive), 56 cites and worst of all 18 medicals, regardless of how many thousands of kids, is being called "tame" or "safe"? I do see your point, and some readers might've noticed I'm on the liberal side, but sheesh. I know that Goleta, the County & UCSB can't just close IV, but why such outrage over Floatopia and move out activities and this is "It's not so bad"?! Of course it's going to be even worse this weekend! As if Friday night wasn't bad enough. At any age, this mass, mob, massive event would've had me running for the hills. After my first general admission stadium concert at age 16 or 17, I said Never Again. Eh. Each to their own.

I think it's time for UCSB to impose a student fee that will cover all costs incurred for policing this yearly drunken brawl. Local taxpayers should not be footing the bill for a party whose participants are mostly from outside our community.

The paragraph describing the SBCo Search and Rescue, taken out of context, could describe the response to any number of natural disasters. But it is describing a voluntary activity. It's describing a party. People are CHOOSING to be in a veritable war zone where SEARCH AND RESCUE are needed to get to them for medical emergencies and hospitalization due to their own choice of activities. We need a zero out-of-towner tolerance. Period. Fence in IV like they already do, close egress and ingress to one street, and patrol the perimeter of town. No one into IV who can't prove they live there. Like any natural disaster. You can't return to the disaster area unless you can prove you live or work there. Carry a utility bill or pay stub. Random checks on the street. Escort non-locals out of the area. Keep the lookie-loos out. THEN, find ways to deal with the 20,000 drunk kids who live there...
