Southbound? It's Northbound where the surface is so rough it is absolutely deafening driving over it with hard compound tires past the Patterson off-ramp. I hate it.

Remember the last time that they scheduled this type of work just before the rains? We all got dings in our windshields as the weather stopped repairs after the grinding, and we all drove through loose debris.

Both of my car's windshields were damaged, and the carnage continued until the rains ended in the spring.

Sigh. Southern California is pavement's wet dream - the lack of temperature change (compared to other places) and freezing/thawing action makes it last FOREVER. Of course, this means we get to spend more time with awful pavement near the end of its life than other places have to. Pros and cons.

It would be nice to see if we get paved at all on the 101. The freeway is so rough and it has been years since it has be resurfaced.

It will be interesting during the winter rains to see if we get the usual elephantine-sized potholes roughly between Los Carneros and Patterson where groundwater runoff beneath the surface always undermines the asphalt.
