That almost looks like a tortoise beetle that has been attacking our eucalyptus trees.

You folks take some pretty exceptional pictures! I want to know how you get the bugs, birds, clouds, mountains, sunshine, animals and people to stay still long enough to focus! Now I can see all I've been missing out there.

Eucalyptus Leaf Beetle (Chrysophtharta m-fuscum), an originally Australian species that has appeared relatively recently. Yes sometimes called eucalyptus tortoise beetle. SBMNH does not have specimens if you'd like to collect some and donate... Would be much appreciated.
