so when are you not allowed to drive in to IV? Is it just Halloween after 5pm? And how do they know if you're a visitor or resident? Or do they just restrict ALL traffic?

Just read that it is going to cost Santa Barbara residents $1million to cover the extra police in Isla Vista for Halloween. ARE WE FREAKING CRAZY? That is absurd. Shut this party down. WHY - because this is not an open party that SB residents would go to - it is a drunk fest where under-age drinkers get away with breaking the law. It should be made into an event and have the attendees pay for it. I would understand if it were downtown SB and had some family events - but it is not. This just pisses me off.

544 - I don't really see any alternative. We can't "close" IV and we can't just not have the police out in force. If we tried to shut it down, it would cost a heck of a lot more than it does just to moderate it.

I bet more than 1 million is spent on local businesses tho with 40-60 thousand people coming to town(that's about $2per person). The police get paid way too much anyways most of the time they are just standing around anyway 12 cops to one dui check point never made sense to me.
