I just spent 10 minutes waiting to cross under the Modoc railroad bridge heading westbound. Despite one lane being open to traffic, no opposing cars coming. We weren't allowed to go. No construction equipment using the lane either. Flagman indifferent to our line of cars and turned his back to avoid looking at the 4-5 cars I witnessed making u-turns to head back to 154/State intersection. These flag persons have got to get their act together and pulse the traffic or this construction project will back up traffic into secondary intersections. Just sayin'.....

STRAY, could they have been working very close to the edge of the construction zone? In this day and age, you have to cover every single possibility for liability - including construction equipment/materials coming over the edge of the barrier. Or, was the other flagger taking a break? Just curious. It seems weird they would do that if there was no reason.

It's not going to be one lane until December, is it?

I headed out that way about 1 p.m. and then turned around after numerous vehicles way in front of me began doubling back. No opposing vehicles coming at that time, either.

It is so sad that the end product will be no better for us than present. The road should be widened to have two lanes in each direction. It has been determined that it is impossible to make such a change.

Not sure if this is the project to widen hollister to two lanes in each direction, but that project is already in process with the County. It's more 'when' than 'if' at this point. Incidentally, for all those who have a handle on construction scheduling, when would be the best time to do this work? Any time you're not having to drive through the area, I assume?
