To "325" 1) Agreed about the message - if it is true that "all of So Cal was out", or even if part of SB was out, a simple recording would inform customers and free up the lines for other service problems 2) WRT to power backup - it works fine if there is a signal to the phone modem, but no signal - no phone, backup or not. To Cox - I agree with others that your customer service has deteriorated significantly in the past 2 years, while your prices continue to soar, even as options for content become more plentiful and available. High speed or not - your days may be numbered. Also - get the rights to broadcast the Laker games, or your days here are numbered.

We have Cox at our business which runs 24/7. We lost all our phones. We were assured when we signed up for the service that there was a back-up to keep phones going - there was no back-up. All the lines were just dead static. We lost business. We will now be removing Cox. The frickin' power company has a message that tells customers that they are aware of a shortage and even how long it may take to fix. Cox couldn't even do this. Well, lesson learned.

I remember years ago I had verizon dial up I think that is what it was called 10 bucks a month. I wanted Verizon high speed and they told me that I was too far away from their offices downtown to recieve it. I had a neighbor further away from me that got it..Liers! Many years ago I had my identity ripped and phone service from verizon was stolen in my name..I played Hell and High Water getting phone service from them after that I had to file this that the otter thang took months yet I was the victim! How could they accept someones personal ss cards and cdl numbers over the phone by someone claimming to be a spouce when I have never been married is beyond me. Any time I have ever gotton a utlity in my name I always showed up with cash and picture ID. I should have sued Verizon for the way they treated me. I'll take Cox anyday the lesser of two evils.. :)

It was out on the Riviera near the El Encanto and Marymount from 10am until 1pm:
No telephone
No internet But the cable tv was ok

It would have been helpful if Cox's recorded message referred to the problem and that they were working on it, rather than "due to a high volume of calls we are not able to take your call"; bad customer service.

Ours is out! quinto street by oak park and the hospital. We have issues with our Cox internet DAILY. - it will suddenly vanish. One minute we have it and then... We want to change but we get busy, caught up with other stuff, and we don't do anything about it. We only remember we hate Cox when the internet is suddenly non- existant AGAIN

My internet service never came back after the outage, so I called Cox. After two hangups (coincidence?), the technician suggested the outage could have blown my splitter. They were right and I directly connected my cable to the modem and I am back on line. Now I can't watch TV, but I do have internet.

I thought internet outages were just a fact of life, but then I move to LA from mid-2011-2012. Wow...not even a hiccup with Time Warner, compared with fairly regular outages from Cox. I'm back in SB now, and Cox seems to be doing everything it can to remind me what a poor service provider they are.

I wish there was a way to find out whether it is a Cox problem or our internal modem. I was ready to go through the process to reset our modem/router, but decided to wait awhile. Now I see all these comments from others. (It is working again for us.) I'm on the Mesa and do lose internet service from Cox somewhat regularly.

I certainly would not look at one outage and fault Cox. We have reliable high speed service from Cox. Yes, today they were out for a couple hours. Verizon was never high speed, In fact they were reliably poor.

Was out at Turnpike area from 10:00am to about 1:30pm. Came back, then was out again for another 15 min. Affected phone and internet, but not cable TV. Bundle is not always a good deal. Looks like Edhat was down too like us normal mortals, when I checked Edhat on my mobile after Cox played a message. to call back later

A little before ten this morning I was watching the original, "Hawaii 5-0" on Netflix. It was a perfect Sunday morning with Steve, Danno, Zulu and Chin Ho. Suddenly everything was gone. It's weird how connected we are to the internet. I'm at home watching reruns of shows that aired in 1972, when in an instant I go back to that age. No computers or internet.

We are still out of Internet service in Bel AIr Knolls at 2:20 pm. Luckily we have an iPad with Verizon that generates its own hot spot, so we can just use the Verizon wifi on our computers. Apple to the rescue once again. I can't notice any speed decrement from Verizon LTE compared to Cox "high-speed" for $54 a month. Maybe we all should just drop Cox. We should definitely all call and ask for a credit from them.

I'm in Tucker's Grove area and called Cox at around 11 am only to find that they had stopped taking calls due to the high volume. At least cable is still working so I can watch the game until they get my landline and internet back up.

With Cox Internet and telephone, it is frustrating when connection is lost. First suspicion is always the modem, but when I tried my phone and it failed, I suspected Cox problems. Unfortunately, without phone or Internet access to Cox, I could not confirm that it was their problem and not mine. I could not even successfully telephone a neighbor to find out if they had lost connection too. I just had to wait. I am in the San Roque area. My ATT service has weakened lately, so I am even having trouble using my cell phone from home. I certainly feel disconnected when I lose phone and Internet access!

Ours was out near Magnolia Shopping Center too. Tried calling Cox on the phone, but they were getting so many calls at the time that they couldn't even answer. Just a recorded message saying they were too busy to handle calls, then a "goodbye", and they hung up on me. Cox has been pretty reliable in the past, but the past few months have been really bad with many outages. They need to be more open with information to let us know what's going on and what they are doing to fix it.

Internet, email and phone were out in my house in San Roque until about 20 minutes ago, internet was out in my friend's house in Winchester Canyon this morning; in my store in Goleta near TJ's Cox telephone was out and we couldn't use our credit card machine until about 12:45. Nothing about this on the Cox website.
