Yes, good thinking and acting on the part of the driver. However, what was the cause of this and like 985 says, proper inspection should have caught this. I sure hope people aren't' driving tanker trunks around with faulty systems that aren't detected due to negligence. Sheesh!

985, I had the same thoughts. However, even though he might have missed something major on a trip inspection, he did act quickly and correctly which is not something you see from most people these days.

Wow are people actually thanking a truck driver? This is the first time I have heard such positive feedback. But being a truck driver myself, Why would the rear tractor tires be on fire? Usually due to having the brakes not properly adjusted, or a pore trip inspection, or the tires blew due to improper tread or low air in the tires. A proper inspection would or should have found the issue.

A tanker truck did blow up near that spot sometime in the late '80s or early '90s. Nortbound 101 about a quarter mile before Turnpike. It burned trees along Calle Real and melted quite a bit of asphalt. Huge explosion. Anyone remember what year it was?

Thank goodness for his training and fast thinking.

Ditto on a job well done. Some people would just let it burn...
Looks like another reason to raise gas prices 10c per gallon:gotta pay for that burned truck!

Great job by the driver. Saw this early Saturday morning and wondered what had happened.
