Don't feed the trolls, just click the "N" (negative) button. Roger, I did laugh a bit about your drill experience! Thanks for being so committed -- and committable. I identify with that.

Yep, it's legal to drive if you're stone deaf, but it's illegal to drive with headphones because you can't hear sirens or horns - the DMV explanation I got - no jive.

So cars can only operate with one speaker then right?? That law is ridiculous.

Seedlady, if it's about being disctracted only, then why would they allow one ear plug? Or for that matter, why allow the car stereo to be on at all? If music is a disctraction, as opposed to a impediment to hearing traffic, then shouldn't all music be banned while riding or driving?

228, it's about being distracted. Deaf persons are NOT being distracted.

How can people who can hear be held to a higher standard than deaf people? Last time I checked, it was legal for deaf people to drive. I'm not saying it would be smart, I'm just saying it doesn't make sense to allow deaf people to ride and drive but cite riders or drivers wearing headphones.

Roger, I would change the number right away, get rid of the stress of it ringing all the time. May not be good to post your number on your facebook page unless your info is only available to your friends. If you can reduce a stress factor then you should, that's one of my personal goals right now too, reduce stress, if it doesn't work then get rid of it!

It is NOT against the law to ride with headphones. It is illegal to wear them covering BOTH ears. Vehicle Code Section 27400 Wearing of Headsets or Earplugs
