I'd love to go to Alaska but the state's position on wolf protection is so bad I don't really want to support them with my money. Until they protect the Denali wolf packs with a buffer zone I guess I will just have to enjoy the pictures from the other people that go. Would love to see the glaciers though.

Thanks for posting these gorgeous photos of the "Great Land". We have over the last 20-years made many of our clients dreams come true with Alaska cruises and cruise/tours. We escort groups to Alaska and everyone loves their visit. We have over the last 20-years made many of our clients dreams come true by visiting this wonderful vast wilderness. I encourage everyone to see Alaska.

We want to go to Alaska but don't want to go on a cattle boat. Those who do these tours, please restart this thread. How does one see Alaska without spending a small fortune? I want to go to Saldovia, Sitka, and the Kenai Peninsula? where else do we go? Self drive tour or some kind of affordable comfortable small boat cruise.

To 457P--We have a cabin on a small piece of land in Eagle River next to the Eagle River Nature Center and spend a few weeks a year working on it and just hanging out in AK. I highly recommend adding the Nature Center to any trip you make to AK. It's where the locals go when they want to see REAL beauty! But all of AK is extraordinary. Just get there! Fly into Anchorage, rent a car or buy an old junker for a few hundred and you can drive anywhere on nearly deserted, well maintained roads. Really the best way to see AK. You don't have to spend a fortune if your willing to rough it. There are Hostles and B&Bs everywhere or stay any of the Forest Service log cabins that are cheap. Google it.
