On a bike ride I stopped and talked to the handler one day. He called the dogs Anatolian Shepherd dogs from Turkey. They are extremely tough dogs who can kill coyotes, bobcats and mountain lions, so that's why he uses this breed.

FIREFIGHTERS are credited with saving many homes in the last fires!! Goat munching assists may decrease the dangers to canyon dwellers who are trying to create defensible space.

Third picture is creepy - to me the goat almost looks human; look at the eyes and teeth.

Great shots, you took advantage of some very nice lighting. Thank you also for posting an image of the warning sign with the name of the vendor who provides this service, I have been considering using these very useful animals to do some brush control.

I was hiking there today. Tunnel Road Trail that leads up to Inspiration, this sign and these fences are right there at the entrance before the hiking fun even truly begins!

I really want to touch the fence now... stupid anti-authoritarian impulses!

Op here-thx for your comments! @auntie s the dog is not a labrador retriever. According to the brushforhire website they are loyal herd Sheperds and they're a breed to be reckoned with while guarding. I made eye contact trying to take a photo of the beautiful dog thus the blurry photo. That dog means business!

Not an urban legend. Goats 4 Hire lost 30 goats in the Jesusita fire. If you have ever kept goats, you know that they become part of your family and the loss hit everyone hard.

Thanks for the wonderful photos. I love how the goats provide the clearance and then fertilize at the same time. I hope these goats and dogs are kept safe. Didn't some of the goats at Skofield Park perish in the Jesusita Fire? Does anyone remember that? Please tell me that was just an urban myth.
