I have no experience with the new iPhone Maps app. I'm curious what you guys are searching for when it tells you Painted Cave is in SLO or Gardena. Are you including something like "Painted Cave, near Santa Barbara, CA" ? If you're just searching for "Painted Cave" that is similar to searching for "Springfield" and expecting a particular city. Just FYI, there are almost 15 million Google results for 'Painted Cave -"Santa Barbara"' (excludes pages containing Santa Barbara). Also, I see no smoke rising above Painted Cave, viewed from N Patterson area.

Containment means that they have a fire line around the entire fire. It is different than the fire being under control. A fire like this probably wont be 100% contained due to the terrain. They will control it (if they havent already), soak out all hot spots, mop up with hand crews and call it officially out. They'll be up there overnight, and through the next couple of days. Removing all risk of a burning root or smoldering twig to re-ignite the blaze.

(Trout Club resident posting-- at top of old San Marcos Rd, where it meets 154). PLEASE stay away from the area-- we don't need lookeeloos blocking Old San Marcos Rd, and 154 in case of urgent evacuations. There really isn't even anything to see from those spots anyhow. Just smoke and aircraft. It never cooled down last night-- quite warm at daybreak. We had power flickering on and off from 7:45 to about 8:30. It's hot here now, wind is just a slight breeze, but increasing. We are having helicopters overhead every few minutes, which is reassuring but annoying!

Finally got through to the spouse who is part of Unified command at the command post (San Marcos FS Station). Fire is 15 acres at the moment and they suspect was started by downed power lines in the canyon directly below Laurel Springs Ranch (East Camino Cielo and Painted Cave rd area) Lots of aircraft and fire equipment on scene...cautiously optimistic, but preparing for afternoon winds shifting. Structures are threatened but crews are on scene and in place.

We sincerely apologize for not being available for over an hour this morning. Apparently, our server was not prepared for the amount of traffic that hit us. This is one of the main upgrades we have been working on of late and hope to be better prepared next time. (Although we hope there is no next time.) Again, we apologize and thank you for your support.

the best live coverage is via abc7. Looks slow moving, sundowners kicked up last night over in that area, hopefully they get it contained soon & fast.

The true mission of Edhat is not to be the only News in town. Everyone is covering it and that has been my goal that everyone will report the news. Right now they are requesting a bucket drop at the end of Look Out. SHAKEY will be posting alittle.

I missed you Edhat!! I felt so blind! Had to work for about half and hour to find info. But anyway, there is live streaming video on KEYT, believe it or not. Also, NBCLosAngeles has good helicopter shots. http://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/local/Santa-Barbara-Brush-Fire-174585941.html

Can anyone fine a live stream of KEYT, or other, coverage? I have been trying, cannot find a live stream on KEYT site or google. I am at work and would like to see what is happening. I find it hard to believe that KEYT would not have the capibility to live stream its news on its web site, but alas, I cannot find it! Suggestions or links would be appreciated!

I live off Via Chaparral (Foothill/154), flames are visible. Thank God we don't have any wind whatsoever. Hopefully they can contain it before the sundowners. Either way, I'm getting insurance papers and pictures of inside the house ready in the truck.
