I'm not sure how to post, but looks like there is a fire started up by the pass. I live between Turnpike and Patterson close to Walnut, and looking out my front door I can see smoke in the mountains. My husband said it looks like it is close to the Painted Cave area...Have you heard anything?

Roger. With the Zapper, you have to make certain that no crumbs or bits of anything get lodged under the electrical "plate." Turn your Zapper on its side, entrance/open side down, give it some taps to dislodge any foodie bits. Zapper shouldn't "read" (red light blinking) that it contains zapped mouse/woodrat, unless something is setting off the plate sensors. Remove batteries and oh-so gently wipe off plate with damp cloth, too. If this false alarm keeps happening, return unit to seller, as it is defective. Remember: one set of batteries should take care of at least five mice/rats. Sorry you have to do this. Again: remove any food source that is luring in rodents. Put everything in metal or glass or in refrigerator/freezer. Good luck.

Roger--I too have had mouse problems. My neighbor has an aviary right next to our fence. It is not kept clean and seeds are everywhere. Our back garage door and dryer vent are 4 feet away. Needless to say mice are everywhere. They also have a german shepard who bites and a chihuahua who barks 24/7 and do not care for cooperation. I read your struggles and having tried every humane method I bought a zapper. It cost $40 at OSH. I have gotten 5 mice in four days--I do not look in their eyes! I just do my happy dance. The mice chewed into the water tubing in my washer 3 times in a month, costing me $75 in repairs.(just for parts-fortunately my son fixed it.) Mice have a hard life--end it mercifully fast and don't feel guilty!!!!!!!
