I count myself as one who considers Pismo a quick getaway, but never without asking myself, if I live in Santa Barbara, do I really need to get away????

Thanks for the compliments! Aqua - I'll bet the butterflies are arriving at Ellwood too. I looked back at my pictures from the last two years and it was the first of December where the huge clusters of Monarchs were in the trees at Ellwood, so still might be too early. I will check Camino Real Park in Ventura to see if they have started to arrive.

All I know is, I have elderly friends who suffer with a barking dog (right next to their bedroom window) and City Animal Control has been next to useless. Two complaining neighbors constitute "a neighborhood," that's what I've been told, over the years. Well. My 80-something friends and their neighbor have complained and complained. If these were my parents (or grandparents), having to listen to this poor lonely yapper of a dog, day in and day out, I would have raised hell by now. But I am just a friend . . . and Animal Control really doesn't seem to give a pooky. Too busy chasing down those off-leash dog walkers and their man-eating chihuahuas.

The color on the Monarch butterfly picture is beautiful! All your pictures are wonderful. Yes, the neon sign called for the vintage look. Thanks for your post.

Fantastic captures Denise! I too LOVE the surfer shot...it's a winner! For those of you who may not know, Denise is a photog friend I met though edhat and a regular contributor of awesome photos....your work always inspires me, thanks! How cool, the monarchs are arriving already, makes me wonder about Ellwood...anyone?
