Very beautiful photos! Well done. Not to mention a warning not to use the drinking fountain out there! Share with a pigeon? I think not! Thanks for that! And I mean that in the sincerest way....no sarcasm at ALL!

Not entirely sure why the photo quality and resolution suffers in the transfer from me to Ed...maybe the files are too big and are being compressed? Anyway, they looked a lot better on my monitor than they do here...sigh. It was a magnificent day all the same!

Well, that's pretty smart - and capturing the sharp bird. It knows to press the water button. (I do not believe we have had too many pigeon-water-drinking-illness outbreaks).

Wish the clouds had kissed the earth with rain.

Lovely photos to remind one of the beauty outside.

Now I know why our mom always warned my brother & me to never put our lips on the drinking fountain opening.

Beautiful shots! I know, I have the same feeling about my images when they appear on Edhat. Always sharper on my screen

Sometimes when I send in photos from iPhoto the quality goes down. That's with the "medium" quality when I export through email. But most of the time I use Photoshop and size the photo to exactly 550 px across the top @72 dpi.

Anyone who can capture the beauty of a pigeon deserves a long walk on a short pier..and back! Great shots! Thanks.

Beautiful shots of October's Bright Blue Weather - especially the 7th one.

Beautiful pictures! It's funny, the birds figuring out how to use the water fountain, lol. And yeah, SO not drinking out of that now. Although I wasn't big on water fountains anyway. Too many people probably put their mouths directly on them. I remember hearing about that being a concern when there were mono breakouts in high school, and authorities tracking some breakouts to a common water fountain. And yes, I think they were factoring in the kissing along with the water fountain, lol. ;)

The pink iridescent feathers on those pigeons are gorgeous!

Lovely shots!

My mouth is now watering for a nice dinner of "squab."

Mmmm... thinking now of developing a case of 'Psittacosis'
after seeing the droppings and the filthy creatures drinking from the fountain.

The drinking fountain picture reminds me of the "good" drinking fountain in elementary school. It was always cool, had good pressure, and perfect arc. One day, someone saw the Saint Bernard from across the street drinking out of it, slobbering all over the spigot. :P Dog germs!

And Edhat Online: is the requirement also a picture size no more than 175 KB for the 550 pixels across (or high)? With so many nature photographers here I now only rarely submit photos, but I know I have saved them in Photoshop in Save for Web and made sure the size was no more than 175 k which has sometimes cut back on the quality.

@521...funny you mention squab....as soon as my husband saw the pigeon(squab) photos, he was reminded of his Italian uncle who raised pigeons for the families consumption....he said the same thing, mmmm, they're delicious! I wouldn't know, I've never tried one.

Nice images of our feathered though at times annoying friends. It does appear that one pigeon is attempting to push the valve of the fountain--amazing.
