This doesn't bode well for SB mail delivery because as it is, we already get a lot of mail delivered to us for the wrong address (similar to our address but wrong and not our address). It will only get worse now that they're handling a million more pieces of mail!

And, don't forget that most of the employees at the Oxnard Mail Processing Plant, are working at the Goleta Mail Processing Plant now.

Ventura County mail has been going to Goleta since June. Isn't it typical that KEYT is the last one one the story again? 5 months late.

Rex - The postal service is consolidating processing facilities to save money as mail volume shrinks due to the bad economy and the electronic diversion of hard copy communications. The facility in Oxnard was closed and the facility on Storke road in Goleta is taking on their workload. Some of that workload may also be going to Santa Clarita. Bad for Oxnard, but more jobs for Santa Barbara.

There never was a Ventura processing and distribution facility. Their mail used to be worked in Oxnard. The Oxnard facility was closed a couple of years ago, and the mail was worked in Santa Clarita. Sounds like they are bringing Ventura's mail to Santa Barbara for processing now.

Carpinteria mail used to go south, maybe this means it will go north now.

But WHY?? What's the reason? Is this temporary or have they permanently closed the Ventura postal center? How does this affect SB County residents? Way ta go, KEYT!

My letter carrier said they were instructed to get back to the office by 4pm when they had double the work because of the holiday, hour and a half extra to hustle in their required 8 hr day, crazy and we still did get our ballots.

Means, if you lived in Ventura and mailed a letter to Ventura, might not get delivered the next day. Mail collected in Ventura, will be brought to Goleta, processed and delivered back to Ventura.

I guess the question is why? What happened to the Ventura facility?
