SCE Outage Center shows an incident inbetween Fairview and Carlo drive affecting 582 people. It occured at 8:52AM but the status says it's being 're-evaluated.' My lights flickered probably 35 minutes ago so maybe it has to do with that.

SCE says Equipment Problems. The problem has been reduced to 10 houses however they might be without power until 11:30 tonight according to the website.

At least this happened on a Sunday. Less businesses will be adversely affected.

I had a question about this... I was trying to get breakfast in Goleta at the time, and due to the power outage there was none to be had. Obviously there is a loss of revenue for businesses affected. In the event of a major outage, is the electric company liable for revenue lost during an outage? I'd think that would be a precarious situation to be in for the electric company, and I'd doubt they would or even could accept liability for such losses. However, when you consider the even small impact on every business, from grocery stores to restaurants to retail to about everyone, when added up together, that seems to be a sizable sum of revenue that was lost due to no fault of the businesses affected. Does anyone know how these issues are resolved between local businesses and electricity providers? For my own curiosity, thanks!
