All the more reason for Goletans to vote this fall for Measure G2012 to protect the few remaining big agricultural plots in the City of Goleta. I'm just sayin'

I really wanted to know more about this project before approval and am disappointed in my Goleta City Council for not advertising the meetings more and involving the neighbors (me especially) Well, it is election season and I think there are some city council members on the ballot....

Well, I, for one, am sorry to see this last large open space go. I know the hawks, squirrels, bees and all the rest will miss this weedy plot of land. How sad that the Council rubber stamps the paving over of land that could be used to grow food. I know it's not "Ag" land, but still . . .More concrete, generic landscaping, pesticides and water waste?

Right. God forbid we, the people, tell our greatest American institution: The Almighty Shopping Mall, to lower its rent on one space so that something other than a giant discount clothing emporium (that gets all of its inventory from sweat shop labor in China) can survive to serve the community. Markets need to be regulated to serve the needs of the community.

That would have been great 302. But it is hard to tell a shopping center that it must contain a store that someone as big as Borders was not able to make profitable. You cannot force someone to run a money loosing business.

It looks a lot like Camino Real, which, for what it is, is actually rather nice looking (though the loss of Borders was devastating). I'm all for it. I do wish the City of Goleta had demanded that a bookstore be put in, and kept, as a condition of approval.

It's a shame the City of Goleta didn't give much (if any) notice of this meeting to its residents!
