789P - Granite is consistently the lowest bid and (as unbelievable as this sounds) consistently on time or early in finishing their work - Caltrans takes the path of least resistance.

Totally agree, 725! Granite Const. Co.seems to get the lion's share of the state hiway work around this county and many others north of here. I wonder if Cal Trans has finally figured it out?! Ka-Ching $ $ $

Actually, it was recently repaved (like, within the last year or so). Granite Construction did such a poor job that within months, the #3 lane going up the grade was so rough and worn-out it was like like driving off-road. There are other bad spots, but this was by far the worst. I am glad to see CalTrans will be doing the work themselves; maybe it will be done correctly this time. I just hope the taxpayers don't have to pay twice for the same job.

Repaving? Didn't they just repave this area a couple years ago? I drove through it this morning and saw them preparing the #2 / #3 lane closures on the grade ... it doesn't look like it needs to be repaved to me...
