I like wearing a backwards cap under my motorcycle helmet.

Rally caps from the old days! I think these guys are just being goofy.

Great photo! I like that flight jacket. And @680 wait no longer! I can tell you, at the Bonnie Raitt concert, this style was everywhere! Ha! I mean, you know, cool man.

Don't laugh, next year those clothes will be back in style! Personally I am waiting for my Miami Vice leisure collection to come back in favor.

I know they used to wear belt buckles sideways so the buckle did not scratch or catch on what you were carrying, back when people carried stuff lol

@326588 Belts are pretty rare these days. I wear one only for special occasions. It drives my mom crazy.

I often turn my baseball cap sideways or rearward. It helps when using a camera. Particularly when using a pop up flash. The flash will hit the baseball cap brim and it cannot fully rise.

When I was in high school, the boys wore their belts buckled at their side, and not in front. I am not even sure they wear belts today. I have seen men turn their caps sidewise or backwards to do a job, then reach up and put it back on "correctly" when the task was complete. Most of the guys wearing them today are not working, they wear them to fit in, or as a statement. People have always dressed to fit in.

The basic idea of a cap is to keep oil, crud, and other stuff you wouldn't want in your hair out of there as you work. A farmer can wear a wide brimmed hat, since he's outdoors, but people who work indoors really just need stuff kept out of the hair and eyes: a cap. But if you're working inside and outside, or in a confined space, or you sometimes need to wear other headgear (welder's mask), you might turn your cap so the bill is sideways or backwards. As long as there have been caps, people have been wearing them at "odd" angles.
