Max-- Trust me, it was Continental's. Employee Cafeteria and "World Headquarters" were directly behind it. And to the ocean side was the employee parking lot where we used to catch the shuttle to Terminal Six -- totally bypassing security.. Legend has it that having Continental be in Terminal Six (for Bob) was part of the deal when the "Jet Age" LAX opened. An "Ex-Con" now not so proudly at the "new" United.

Same Hanger as Shuttle. Is United now, but very possibly is Continental's.

Thrust vectored engines? I do not believe any commercial aircraft has a thrust vectored engine. Thrust vectoring is used in military applications and on lighter than air aircraft (blimps). Perhaps you mean high bypass?

Reminds me of the days at Pacific Coast Airlines wiring Handley Page Jetstream 31's. Cool shots!

Was this the same hangar where you saw the Shuttle? If so you are looking at years of Continental Airlines history. That hangar was built to specifications laid down by CAL founder Bob Six to accommodate two 747s under full cover. "An Ex-Con"

Interesting posting and photos, thank you. Increasingly airlines are seeking to have the maintenance work performed overseas.

Awesome, thanks for sharing. Something about seeing the spotlessly maintained workshop makes me feel better about flying.

I can just HEAR the engine geeks / tool geeks salivating at those photos! Nice shots.

Reminds me of my Navy days working on inertial navigation systems and visiting friends who worked on the engines. What is more complex, one of these things or the human body?

Wow! Great to see behind the scenes. That thrust vectored engine is interesting.
