Thanks for sharing...great pictures! I know exactly what you mean about the feeling just being around the shuttle. My husband, Bob, and I had the opportunity to see the first shuttle land at Edwards in April, 1981 (Columbia) and then attended a launch at Kennedy Space Center in May, 2008 (Discovery). Both were life highlights. Touring Kennedy all day the day of the launch and seeing all the exhibits was priceless. Anyone who can should take the opportunity to see the shuttle on exhibit in LA.

Amazing photos very cool I got to play in the training mockup at Johnson but not the real thing. So friends at United perhaps you can grab some shots of the 787 once that starts LA/IAH Service in November :) Thanks for sharing!

That's incredible you got to get so close to it... I was lucky to see it from a distance last saturday while flying through lax and even that was amazing.

Is Greg McLychock related to John, the famous obstetrician?

Thanks for taking and sharing the close-up photos. Not at all what I was expecting and I appreciate they haven't glossed it up for prosperity but you see it in its 'working' condition.

@156P: The shuttle is scheduled to be open for public viewing on October 30 at its permanent home at the California Science Center in Exposition Park, The following link gives more details about the exhibit: http://www.californiasciencecenter.org/GenInfo/PlanningYourVisit/Hours/endeavour/endeavour.php Interesting note: The shuttle will be displayed in the upright, launch position.
