I am a vegan migrant farmworker and I do not approve of this spectacle. There, is everybody happy now? If however, the bulls were left with their horn sharpened so it is a fairer fight, I would be in favor of it. Support your right to arm bears.

Funny stuff - I was raised around farms in the mid west - I love the comments from the arm chair anti bull fight folks - these bulls are not harmed / it is a vacation for them......

That's strange because the Camelot Classic Horse Show is next weekend. I would not think that Earl Warren would schedule this event for the same weekend.

This is a tradition to many Mexican Americans . These are bloodless - the cow is not hurt . It is a safe way for a people to carry on a tradition that is important to their culture. If you go to Los Acres Arabians you can read the true facts on the practice today. Of Christians in Santa Barbara 54 % are Catholic , which many are Mexican Americans. For a bloodless bullfight event to be held in CA. It must be backed by a religious organization ,I believe. It is a beautiful relationship between man and horse. The hornless cow is chased around much like cutting horses and cows. It is not what first comes to your minds. Santa Barbara makes a ton off Fiesta,a celebration of all things Mexican. Let them be,or better yet. Go see before judging and reading Internet false facts.

I m with you, 274! I remember going to bullfights in Spain with my father, it was fun and exciting...and a little scary and gross. I understand those folks who are anti-bullfighting, it does seem rather barbaric and even cruel. But seriously, folks, that can be said about a lot of things that we do every day, and just don't think about it. especially if you think about what we eat and how it is brought to market. And no, you vegans don't get off the hook either, unless you are a migrant farm worker vegan. There is lots of cruelty to go around in many different forms. It's all a matter of cultural perspective.

What are “bloodless” or Portuguese bullfights, and are they legal in the U.S.? So-called "bloodless" bullfights, legal in many U.S. states, involve teasing and attacking the bull. Although tormenting and abusing the animal is part of the show, killing must be done outside the arena. But just like regular bullfights, bloodless bullfights send the message that animals are nothing more than objects for us to abuse at will. And, there is the Picador's horses that are bought knowing they can be killed by the Bull. Animal cruelty at it's finest.

I remember attending bloodless bull fights multiple times at the Astrodome back in the 1960s. They were great fun. The "bloodless" only refers to the bull. If you think it was rough on the bulls, think again. The matadors were often gored. Believe me, there was lots of blood but ultimately after a hospital stay the bull fighters recovered. Those that are complaining on Edhat have probably never watched these bull fights.

@151, where do you think they kept the bulls until the fight? They lived their whole life in a field until the day they were taken to the fight? Uh, no. It's just as cruel as the food industry in the US, just a different type. Basically, a bull is tortured to death for fun and profit. I'm not even a vegetarian, but that's wrong, tradition or not.

When I was a child in Spain we went to the bullfights. Right after, the bulls were butchered and the meat given to the poor. No where near as abusive as the confined animal food industry we have here in the states.
Bullfighting bulls have been bred longer than race horses, for fearlessness and power. When delivered to the ring, they are guaranteed not to have seen a human on foot up close, only on horseback.

It is yucky. There are a couple of articles about bloodless bull fighting on the net. The matador "kills" by getting his spear, which has velcro, stuck on to a velcro patch on the bulls back. Still rather icky all together. It needs to be stopped now, before it becomes a regular thing.
