Ironically at tonights Crosby, Stills & Nash concert the band sang a song that David ( a Santa Barbara Don!!!) wrote called "Radio"...the refrain was "pull somebody out of the water"... David introduced the song by saying that even though it sounded nautical, the song is really about helping your fellow man. That one was for the Ausies!!!! Thanks guys!

Dang, bummed I missed that swell! It's rare to get good waves at East Beach. Glad that dude is okay.

The photo of the men was taken after they had returned to their hotel and unfortunately the 20-something woman wrestler was not with them. I'm curious about her too!

Heaven forbid I am ever in need of rescue in the ocean, but if I am, I would want Aussie's in the water with me. Forget "Lifeguard on Duty/Not on Duty" signs, I want to know if there are Australians in the water or not! What a great story. Thank you for sharing! Best wishes for the local man's recovery. How frightening for him but how lucky, too

Aussies, those who grow up on the coast, have almost all had a bit of training in surf rescue. Aus is really big on that. Not surprising, since there are some good waves and treacherous undertows/rip currents on many of the beaches. I hope these men get to see our comments and all the "hero" stories. G'donya, mates! How perfect was it, that they were all there for this bodysurfer? Any update on his condition?

According to the Santa Barbara City Fire Department Information's FB page, a woman named Lauren said she was a professional rescuer, not wrestler.

Hi SEEDLADY - As far as I know all of the young men are "Sidneysiders", most having known each other since childhood, with one of the guys meeting the others is college. Their hometown news station sent a news team to SB after someone read the story on Edhat and sent it on to News Ten. I also e-mailed the Sydney Morning Herald and suggested they give the guys a "heroes welcome" when they return home. Hopefully they do! I also e-mailed one of the guys all of the Edhat stories/comments after he gave me his e-mail address and asked to have them.
