I'm sorry to get into this a little after the fact but the following is crazy: "Along with raising the fees, TPS also changed the names of the categories of long-term passes from “faculty,” “staff” and “student” to simply “A,” “B” and “C” passes. Each category denotes a different set of on-campus lots that the holder is allowed to use, but all three are identical in price." Parking is confusing enough at UCSB and I don't know why anybody would try to make it even more confusing. Perhaps Faculty, Staff, Student and Visitor would make more sense for parking lot and permit designations? Or is this just an attempt to get more parking citation revenue. By the way does this require all the parking lot signs be changed? I thought I read something in the article about revenue problems...who is going to pay for this?

From prevoius experience you may be referred to the "Rate Payer Board" at UCSB. This board meets during business hours and for most working people it is impractical to attend. I would recommend that you put your comments and concerns in writing via email and request she forward them to the Chancellor, and request a follow up email to be sure this has occurred.

Certain IT personnel had some issues with their existing vendor due to some credit card processing complianceissues. Rather than attempt to work with this vendor an entirely new RFP was written and the contract awarded to a new vendor. New programs, servers, and permits cost money which is likely the cause of the increase. If you have problems with the increases, which will likely continue into the future, I would suggest you contact their Operations Manager at suzy.nespor@tps.ucsb.edu.

When I worked downtown the Company paid for us to park in a City owned lot- the one that they use for the farmer's market on Saturday. Eventually the business decided to move to Carpenteria due to cheaper rent and free parking. There was a lot of grumbling because the workers were used to getting great lunches though!

Many people who work in downtown SB have to pay to work if they have to drive.

The UC worker is saying- how many of us actually have to pay to park at the place we work? Very few of us, I would bet. Plus UC salaries aren't that good- the tradeoff is that the benefits are pretty good but those are slowly being chipped away as the state budget crisis continues. I hadn't gone out there for a long time and then when I did, all of the lots I used to park in were gone, replaced by shiny new expensive buildings. I guess it's clear where the tuition increases have gone. I know that the buildings were constructed with bond money but I bet the students would appreciate a few less buildings and a smaller tuition. I guess that would make too much sense to ever happen.

Try parking for a soccer game with a limited mobility family member, we stopped because of the hike to the parking lot, unless you pay an extra couple of hundred per season

We stopped going to A&E events years ago because of the ticket prices. It's sad. We just couldn't afford them any more. Maybe once a year we splurge on an event. The parking is very unfriendly to the disabled. I never noticed until I had mobility problems. Parking, then walking to buy the ticket (maybe standing in line to do so) & then walking back to put it on the car is difficult and painful. Hard to believe that I can remember when it was free parking in the evenings at Campbell Hall. I guess UCSB doesn't have to worry about losing business due to parking or ticket prices.

There goes some attendance at Arts and Lectures. With parking added to the ticket price, it's often out of reach.

They "jack" the staff too. We pay $37.50 to park at work. That's going to be $450 for the year.

This is sad. There seems to be plenty of money to load tax- and fee- exempt UCSB vans up for wine tasting excursions in Santa Ynez and other recreational field trips. Guess they have to jack the students to pay for it now. This state is so f$%@ up.
