I don't know the history of the water tower but I recognize it. It's at 1914 Santa Barbara Street. Neal Graffy??

I believe this Quonset hut was moved from the WWII Hoff army hospital grounds at Los Positas [Municipal golf course] to its present site shortly after the war.

There have been a handful of Quonset Huts scattered around SB in the past. I remember one on Gutierrez and another near the end of SB St.

Quonset huts.... Is my vague recollection that there used to be a fair number of them at UCSB back in the 1960's?

The ones at UCSB were from when it was a Marine training base.

There were never any Quonset huts on the UCSB campus, only former barracks and associated buildings from the Marine Corps Air Base. A dozen or so still survive.

The Quonset-Type structure on the south side of the 200 Block of East Ortega is a steel commercial structure called a "Wonder Building". If memory serves, it was built new on that site somewhere around 1959 -- give or take five years -- and it then cost a lot of money: $26,000.
