That first shot is absolutely amazing. Thanks for posting all and reminding me of how lucky we all are to live this close to the slough.

Thank you, thank you for leaving out any photos of terns. I couldn't go through that again, trying to i.d. them. Oh, but wait . . . I think I see some ducks in the background there. Yes. Behind the two Great egrets, where the one is coming in for a landing. Yes. Ducks. Blurry, but . . .NO. Must not look . . .

Great pics. I was there yesterday and saw elegant terns, snowy egrets and pelicans all feeding on some small silver fish! so cool.

Great photos - they capture the beauty and sense of the Slough, and the calm activity that was very apparent.

How do you keep from blowing out the white?

Lovely photos, but would be better without the name across the bottom. Not complaining, but wouldn't send as postcard with that name. Detracts from beauty you have captured. Too commercial.

Thank you for all the comments, I take them all to heart and appreciate the encouragement, and yes, even the 'constructive' comments. Sometimes, I forget, sorry, not to include the watermark. I know some people do like to use photos as desktop images or send as postcards (I know I do!) @469P...I've learned to fix the whites in LR4. Photographing all white or all black things is difficult, so post processing a bit is pretty much standard procedure for me. ;-)

Beautiful photos! Can bird watching enthusiasts suggest light-weight binoculars to buy in Santa Barbara?

Wonderful shots, the contrast of the quiet, dark water and the elegant white egrets is captivating.

hi there, didn't know aqua/ was sue. i also love love going to goleta slough like a treasure trove not so populated with people as much as birds! was there at sunset yesterday and it was teeming with Egrets, fishing frenzies, oh those noisy elegant darting about terns, pelicans, stilts etc. I took tons of photos but need a new hard drive to put up with all my pictures. ha. the whites are hard not to blow out for sure and what magic all the sails of those white wings are over that green water. yum. thanks for the post. kathee

Are there only birders or photogs who respond to these pics? No one has commented on the artist's lovely painting and that is my very most favorite photo in this group, nothing to do with how lovely the others are but to capture an artist capturing nature so vibrantly was a thrill to see. Wonder who that redhead was, the painting is captivating!

The pictures are lovely-I only wish I had such talent. My question is--what is that foamy? soap scummy stuff on the water? I do not live in the area. Is this human contamination/? Too bad if it is in such a magical place.
