We went on a hike like that back in March or April and it was really eye opening. What a special part of the coast. I recommend interested people look into the Naples Coalition. I also found Mike L. a very nice person who I really enjoyed talking to.

There IS another hike scheduled on October 13 at 1:30! Call Naples Coalition for more information at 805-683-6631. YES we all have permission to respectfully pass as it has been granted by the owners, First Bank. The "permission to pass" signs override the "no trespassing" signs. I suggest you come on the October hike to learn more.

I found out about the tour because they did a big promotion at First Thursday. They had a parade of sea animal puppets down State Street that led to their table at Casa de la Guerra. Mike Lunsford says he leads the tours fairly often. Go to the Save Naples web site (link is in my write-up above). They should list future tours there or you can contact them there. If enough people are interested, he may schedule a tour soon!

So what is the truth about access ? Do we have a legal right to access it and can we do it without hopping fences ? Curious to what Mike had to say about that. Obviously we dont want to have too many "over-access" the place... but on occasion- for a little scenic get-away sure would be nice we wouldnt have to climb fences or feel like we'll get arrested.

If and when another tour is planned letting Edhat readers know to sign up would be wonderful. I would love to have a tour of this land

Whatever can be done to save this part of our coast . . . I'm there. Have never walked this; too bad I missed out on the tour. Oh well. Mike Lunsford and his selfless teamates all deserve our most humble gratitude for all their hard work in keeping this beautiful area free from development. Save the Gaviota Coast!
