I've seen the butterflies flitting about the yard, but so far no caterpillars on my fennel. You are lucky, those are beautiful critters.

I saw a gravid female Anise swallowtail laying eggs on my anise plants. Never saw a single caterpillar. The anise was too dry this year. Plus, I have noticed less and less swallowtails each year. You are lucky to have any caterpillars. Good for you, helping them along.

OP here. We used to raise dozens of swallowtails every year, then they vanished completely. This year is the first time in maybe five years that we've seen any.
