029. I got that you were kidding around. A couple years ago, I was wading through the slough water run-off , and saw a young toddler playing in the slough water. I stopped and said to the father (only parent in evidence), "You may not know this, but that water is full of contaminants." The man looked at me and as he smiled, he said, "He's not drinking it." I looked around for the toddler's mom. I wonder what she would have had to say about it. It used to be so fun, listening to people blame the dogs (and cats!), the seabirds & marine mammals, horses and cows (manure runoff), even the homeless, for the nasty microbes in the slough water. Now we know it is the leaching of the old dump into the creek. Who knows what's in that water. Ick.
