It's irritating when a bicyclist in my lane blows through a stop sign or red light then gets in front of me and uses the whole lane just because he is entitled to do so. How would he feel if a group of pedestrians decided to walk directly in front of him, blocking his path in all directions. The peds would be in the wrong, yes? And wouldn't that bug the crap out of him? On the issue of spandex. Why the insults? Every sport has its uniform. Do surfers think they're all that because they put on a rubber suit? Do swimmers really believe they look cool in a Speedo? Do equestrians enjoy going out in public wearing those silly looking britches and tall boots? Leave the cyclists alone.

No, 085, it's simply NOT *your* lane, as far as lane ownership goes bikes and cars are the same. To add onto that, you DO have a legal obligation to yield to cyclists. Guess what else you have? Literally TONS of metal armor surrounding you, while a cyclist has little to none. Funny you call these cyclists "entitled" and then go on about these "your" lane. Live and let live...

I would not want to be such an ignorant bike rider. Kinda stupid not to blend in with an honorable attitude and respectable skills.

I think cars ought to be 6 plus feet away from bicyclists they are always trying to run us down. And they should not be allowed to pass us. They could drive alittle slower have patients for crying out loud..

It is "my lane" when I'm proceeding lawfully anc carefully in traffic. I have no obligation to yeild to a cyclist, especially if s/he's doing dangerous things. Of course I would never deliberately harm someone else. I will not risk my own safety to have to abrubtly change or merge into another lane because some entitled cyclist (or impaired bicyclist or distracted by cel phone cylist) weaves in and out of traffic (against the direction of traffice) and doesn't do his or her part to be safe and obey the rules. Or if some entitled cyclist tries to "take the lane" when he or she has no idea of how that is meant to be used and/ or when. Then there are tons of ignorant cyclists who ride aggresively on the sidewalk inclucing the packs of Spandex wearing men who ride on the sidewalk for the last block to get to Peet's or Starbux on State for their post ride coffee.

Around town there are lanes with the bike symbol in them. Down by the beach I move over to the other lane and let the bike have that lane. If it were one lane with the symbol then I stay behind the bike until it is safe to go around. In my younger days my only means of transportation was my bike and I never had problems like we have today. Everyone needs to slow down and share the road, even if it means the auto has to go below the speed limit.

048...Yes, to many of your questions. It works by cars moving 3 feet away from bicyclists, similarly to how you are supposed to move to the other lane when passing pulled over emergency vehicles. If you can't get 3 feet away without encroaching in another lane, guess what? You shouldn't do it, you should wait until you can! As much as you may hate it, bicyclists have as much right as you do on the road and you shouldn't split lanes with a cyclist unless there is an extra 3 feet of room to do so. 3 feet is NOT much... It is very entitled of you to call it "MY lane," this is the root of many cyclist-vehicle accidents. I'm not denying that cyclists are also the problem much of the time, but that doens't make it *YOUR* lane in the slightest. Share the road not because it's yours to share, but because it belongs to MANY modes of transportation is meant to be shared.

The cyclists are the problem. Many of them with eabuds in both ears, no helmet, talking on the phone, not obeying motor vehicle laws and generally being self-entitled bad citizens on the road. Crack down on bycicle law and bicyclist bad, dangerous habits (that put all of us in danger of an accident. in this town. That would do alot more in making traffice and pedestrians safer. How is this "3-foot" rule supposed to work? How will it be enforced? What duty do the cyclists have to "ride as close as possible to the right side of the road? If I'm procedding to the beach in the right lane on two lane Milpas and there's a cyclist to my right...Am I supposed to pull three feet away (and into the other lane of traffice) just because some cyclist is claiming the lane or encraching so much on my lane that I have to make unsafe avoidance manuvers to avoid the cyclist who is oblivious to the problems caused.

A bill has made it through the California legislature that will help protect us by requiring cars to keep 3 feet away from bicyclists. All it needs is the signature of the Governor and it becomes California State law. Please encourage the Governor to sign on the dotted line at http://act.transformca.org/p/dia/action/public/?action_KEY=10642 Thanks,

I work right around the corner from this area. A lot of people do not come to a full stop at this intersection. We need a Traffic light at this spot!
