Nice! One of those is not a horse, but a mule.

I've seen a few horseback riding cowboys while traveling down Cath. Oaks - The last time was about a month ago. Two riders, very much looking the part, riding on the trail adjacent to the roadway. Reminded me of days gone.

I just heard a few minutes ago there was a guy with 4 donkeys on West Haley and he's headed to the 300 Block of East Guiterrez.

I heard him near de la vina and alamar a while ago!

I saw him walking against traffic down Foothill Road/192 near Alamar.

For his horses sake, he needs to be more careful, that road narrows between Alamar and Mission Cyn Road. Sounds like he made it safely downtown, however.

I saw this and his horses on Foothill, near Ontare, heading east a little after 9 am this morning. It was a pleasant surprise!

I bet two or three hundred (more)? years ago the same sort of conversation or observations were being had at the mission or a tavern or creek: Did you see the Spaniard with the old-fashioned European saddle and Old World horse? Or, did you see the Indian (no offense, I am guessing if that is the word they used) at the creek milling acorns? At any time in history, there are people who are either throw-backs, preservationists of the old ways, or enthusiast who recreate a bygone way. Do people think it's cool, or a folly?

Nice to think that someone, at least one person, is still free in this so built up southern California. I admire him, even envy him.

897: if you do a Google search, as I just did, you will or should be able to find an article about him. I don't want to spoil anyone's seeking pleasures so I'll let you find what it took me about 15 seconds, if that.

I saw him loading a sack of feed onto one of the mules at Lemo's feed stir on E. Guttierez this afternoon. He parked three mules in two compact stalls, and they stay parked while he was in the store.
