Dog lovers from all over the country are outraged and sickened by this story! This scuzbag needs to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law but will probably get off with just a handslap. Anyone who can abuse an animal (or a child) needs to be eradicated because they are useless and not even fit to be called a human being. No telling what else he has done in his past and to whom (or what). This is a serial killer in the making and for everyone's sake he should be taken out and shot! I am so angered by this act of senseless cruelty that if I were left alone in a room with this evil pig I would probably end up getting arrested myself because I honestly think I could kill him and not think twice. God forgive me for saying this, but I hope this skeeze rots in the hottest parts of hell for all eternity!

Very sad!
It won't help this poor person or their loved ones, but maybe we need a $30 million barrier along the cliffs in Isla Vista similar to the San Marcos Pass Bridge barrier - it seems as important for the government to attempt to prevent accidental suicides as intentional ones. This wouldn't work any better than the bridge barrier, but it's consistent with the policy that government can enable people to safely cross a street without looking for approaching vehicles by pouring millions of dollars into pedestrian safety features and law enforcement.

The quoted sentiment is from an obscure Scot named Alexander Fraser Tyler but was stolen from his work by Swearingen who attributed a bastardized version to Tocqueville, a favorite of the conservative American intellectual. That nonsense has continued and the quote has been made even more absurd by subsequent modifications from the same anti-intellectuals. Of course it would stand scrutiny if the speakers tried to use it on its own, they attempt to give ti credibility by this snag. Of course the facts of history do not support the insight in any event.
