Feb 8, 2006 - Half Over or Half Begun?
Tuesday was a slow day at the Film Festival. Aside from the centerpiece screening of Man About Town and the after-movie party, there were just films. Imagine that, a day at the film festival with nothing but films?
Edhat had some computer email problems in the morning. We were unable to man the Ed Carpet in front of the Hotel Santa Barbara. But alas - no one seemed to care. It poses a philosophical paradox – if the Ed Carpet is not there, but no one doesn’t see it, does it really not exist?
Yesterday, the dedicated staff of edhat.com had a chance to see a movie with our old friend Lunch with Louie (if Louie exists, but no longer writes lunch reviews, does he exists?). We saw Di Buen Dia a Papa, a movie that “depicts the lives of three women from Che Guevara’s death to the exhumation of his remains in 1997.” (Che is dead, does he exist?). The movie was beautiful, but a tad slow for Ed’s taste.
Louie commented that it’s too bad Che died in such a boring place.
In the Film Festival pressroom yesterday, it was bagels – sliced, evenly spread with cream cheese, put back together, covered with plastic wrap, and put in a little bag with handles.
Steve Edwards reports about the Centerpiece movie last night, and the after party. He tells us that, just like last year, it was a guy’s movie. Speaking of Louie, we were expecting to see his elected replacement The Salmon at the party, but he was a no show. Of course, many people don’t think he exists, either. Certainly there have not been many lunch reviews of late.
